Monthly schedule planner for a clean calendar and workday counts

A monthly planner is useful when you need the full month in one view, not a long list of dates. This Monthly Schedule Planner generates a clear month calendar and gives you the numbers that usually drive real planning: total days, weekdays, weekends, and workdays. You can also exclude specific dates (like public holidays, leave days, or blackout dates) so your workday count matches how you actually operate.

This tool is built for two common use cases. First, quick planning: pick the month and year, generate the calendar, and you immediately have a reliable view for deadlines, pay cycles, rotations, training schedules, or study plans. Second, more accurate planning: add an exclusion list to reflect how many working days you truly have available. That is useful for capacity planning, timelines, billing expectations, and any plan that depends on working days rather than calendar days.

The output includes a month grid that follows the real calendar for the year you choose. If you enable weekend highlighting, Saturdays and Sundays are visually marked to reduce scanning errors. If you add excluded dates, those dates are also flagged, and the summary updates to show working days after exclusions. You can treat excluded dates as non-working days even if they fall on weekdays, which is exactly how holidays and leave affect capacity.

Assumptions and how to use this calculator

  • The calendar is Gregorian and uses your device’s local date rules for the selected year and month.
  • Weekends are defined as Saturday and Sunday.
  • Excluded dates are treated as non-working days for counting purposes, even if they fall on weekdays.
  • Excluded dates must be entered in YYYY-MM-DD format and must fall within the selected month to affect the counts.
  • This planner does not automatically pull public holidays, because holidays differ by country and employer; you control the exclusions.

Common questions

How do I use this monthly schedule planner quickly?

Select the month and year, then click “Generate monthly schedule.” You will get a calendar grid plus a summary showing total days, weekdays, weekends, and workdays. If you just need a month view for planning, you can stop there.

What does “workdays after exclusions” mean?

Workdays are normally weekdays (Monday to Friday). “Workdays after exclusions” subtracts any dates you entered that fall on weekdays within the selected month. This is useful for planning capacity when holidays, leave, or shutdown days reduce your available working time.

What format should excluded dates be in?

Use YYYY-MM-DD, separated by commas. Example: 2026-01-01, 2026-01-02. Dates outside the selected month are ignored, and invalid entries are skipped so you still get a schedule.

Can I start the week on Monday or Sunday?

Yes. Use the “Week starts on” option to switch between Monday-first and Sunday-first layouts. This only changes the calendar layout and weekday labels, not the underlying date logic.

Why does the calendar not include my tasks or recurring events?

This tool is designed to generate a correct month view and planning counts without forcing you into data entry. If you need a task system, use the calendar output to anchor deadlines and capacity, then manage tasks in your preferred app. The exclusion list is the only optional input because it directly changes capacity calculations.
